Command Center

This section details the steps needed to configure your Hypervisor and create the credentials in your Command Centers tenancy, along with setting up your first backup plan.

Visit your tenancy in Command Center

  1. From your Datastor.io tenant page. Click the "Portals" drop down button in the top Right

  2. Select "Commvault"

  3. You will be redirected to the Commvault dashboard

Add the credential in Command Center's Credential Vault

  1. Navigate to Credential Vault from the Left panel, select Manage Security and select "Credential Vault"

  2. Click the "Add" button in the top Right

  3. Fill out the Credential window

    1. Account Type = Cloud Account

    2. Vendor Type = Amazon Web Services

    3. Authentication type = STS Assume Role with IAM Policy

    4. Credential Vault = Built-In

    5. Credential Name = <Your Credential Name> Example = "Dsio_yourcompanynamehere"

    6. Role ARN = arn:aws:iam::<Your ARN>:role/DsioBackupRole

    7. External ID = <External_Id> [this is the external ID you named in the previous page]

    8. Description = Provide a description if desired

You can view the External_id in your AWS account. IAM > Roles > DsioBackupRole | Click view "Trust relationships"


Configure the Hypervisor

  1. In the Left panel, go to Protect > Virtualization

  2. Click "Add Hypervisor" in the top Right

  3. Select "Amazon Web Services" then click "Next" in the bottom Right

    1. Name = Your company name

    2. Regional endpoints = Your Region (This is included in your confirmation Email)

    3. Select AWS STS AssumeRole | This is selected by default

    4. Credential - Select the credential you just created. Example = "Dsio_yourcompanynamehere"

    5. Toggle the "Use service account resources" slider. You should see the ServiceHypervisor populate below

    6. Click the "Next" button in the bottom Right

  4. Add VM Group

    1. Name your group - Example = "Dsio_VM"

    2. Content > Select the "Add" dropdown > Select "Content". This opens the "Add Content" window

      1. In Add Content. Click the "Browse and select VMs" dropdown button, and select "By region"

      2. Under your region, select any VM you wish to add to backups

      3. Click the "Save" button in the lower Right

  5. Select a Plan if already configured

  6. Back in "Configure Amazon Web Services Account" click the "Next" button in the lower Right

  7. Review the Summary then click "Close" to finalize

  8. From the Overview you can review your Summary
